Lipedema is a diseased fat and connective tissue disorder that is often mistaken for obesity and may involve complex physiologic dysregulation such as MCAS, pain, and easy bruising.  Its clinical diagnosis is an adipose tissue disorder or a lipid metabolism disorder.  Lipedema fat is unresponsive to standard diet and exercise.  These measures may lead to weight loss in other areas, but the size of the hips, legs, buttocks, belly and arms remain disproportionately large.  Visit www.lipedemaproject.org
